I have qualifications in engineering and law, with a degree in Electronic Engineering, periods working in engineering in the space and automotive industries and also commercial experience of coding. As engineer and lawyer, I have been running businesses and have been working with global R&D and manufacturing businesses in electronics, telecoms, software and complex mechanical systems for over 40 years. I have also been involved in technology procurement. I am able to understand technology and financial issues quickly.

I have been chair, managing partner and managing director of businesses in the legal sector, and am familiar with the tensions that can arise at senior levels in owner-managed businesses.

As an engineer, I worked for a major car manufacturer and as well as working in an engineering role, worked between the manufacturer, dealerships and customers on warranty matters to help resolve persistent faults and arrange suitable repairs. Subsequently, I have been heavily involved in IP matters in the automotive sector. Since the 1980’s, I have been involved with classic cars as an owner, restorer and motorsport competitor. I am familiar with the relationships and constraints of the motor trade from all sides.
